About Us

A & F Border Collies is the abbreviated form of two renowned Border Collie kennels (Arrodare Border Collies & Fayken Border Collies) owned by Miss Joanne Ratcliffe & Mr Ross Green. Prior to establishing Arrodare, Jo together with her late mother Elaine bred multiple UK & overseas champions under the famous Grandver kennel affix.

Arrodare & Fayken Border Collies are now combined kennels located together in Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom. We continue to breed and show Border Collies under both kennel names. Our combined breeding programme continues to produce some of the top winning Border Collies in the UK show rings as well as activity dogs and much loved family pets.

Male Breed Record Holder

Sh Ch Tonkory Palmerston at Fayken JW was the breed record holder for many years until Sh Ch Fayken I Am Love surpassed it in 2023. Taz was owned and handled to 44 CC's by Ross, and his 45th CC by Jo.

Judging

We are both qualified championship level judges of Border Collies.

Joanne Ratcliffe

Jo has judged Border Collies at Championship show level in the UK since 2003 and has awarded Challenge Certificates in Border Collies on 9 occasions to-date, including the honour of judging at Crufts in 2015. 

Jo is also qualified and passed by the FCI and AKC to judge Border Collies and has judged at FCI Championship level in Italy, Czech Republic, Denmark and Ireland. 

Jo also had the huge honour of judging The Border Collie Speciality in the USA.

Ross Green

Ross has judged Border Collies at Championship show level in the UK since 1999 and has awarded Challenge Certificates in Border Collies on more than 10 occasions including Crufts in 2014.

Ross is also qualified and passed by the FCI, AKC, CKU and ANKC to judge Border Collies and has judged at FCI Championship level in Italy, Czech Republic, Denmark, Austria and Ireland.

Additionally Ross judged the Los Angeles Border Collie Speciality and Parent Club Speciality in the USA, Border Collies & Welsh Corgis at The Diamond Show in China and males & BIS at the Australian Border Collie National.

March 2025 - Crufts Championship Show - Sh Ch Fayken I Am Love JW (Tempt) wins the Bitch CC, BOB, BVIB and then Pastoral Group 3. Her kennel mate Sh Ch Fayken Truth Or Dare With Arrodare JW (True) wins the Open Dog Class ( 38 exhibits) and then the Reserve CC. 

April 2025 - Southern Border Collie Club Championship Show - Sh Ch Fayken I Am Love (Tempt) wins the Bitch CC and Best in Show and kennel mate Sh Ch Fayken Truth Or Dare With Arrodare wins the Dog CC.
